The scope in the field of fine arts is very wide and rewarding. However, a degree in fine arts rewards only those who fit certain criteria and possess the required skills. The nature of work of a fine art student involves putting visualization on to the canvass.

Eligibility:

  • One should have passed 12th standard from a recognized board with minimum 50 per cent.
  • Depending on the country or state one also has to clear the intermediate drawing grade exam conducted by the respective state.
  • Students need to clear entrance exams as well.
  • Good visual and verbal communication skill with high level of creativity.

The BFA covers key topics such as history of visual communication; graphic design, typography and computer graphics for print- and screen-based applications; web design and multimedia; illustration, fine art and animation; advertising, fashion and journalistic photography as well as photography as fine art. Students aspiring to make a career in this field should not only be good artists but also have wild imagination. A good artist will not only put life to canvas but also give his creative input as and when required. Here patience is the most important skill which every artist should possess. There are times when a particular work might take very long to complete. Many creative ideas might be rejected and the artist gets frustrated.Mostly the employers look for students who are dedicated, eager to learn, hard worker and the ones who are loyalist. The BFA course can teach you the basics of art but it is up to the students to take initiative extract maximum out of their lessons. One cannot expect spoon feeding. There are many things which students have to learn on their own.

A word of caution for those who think that after completing the BFA course their bank balance will start increasing. No doubt that it’s a very lucrative career and the options are unlimited but one has to slog out to be a successful professional. Working at odd hours, going without food, high stress level can definitely be expected in this field.

Many parents consider arts stream as not a very good career option. They think that it’s very difficult to have a good flow of income in arts. This is far from the truth. The field of arts has produced some of the highly paid professionals.

Remuneration:
Graphic designers, visualisers, and art directors can command very high salaries. With the boom in television and print the demand for professionals have increased manifold. Salary is definitely not a problem for the right candidate.
