From Allied Health Medical Assistant Program Students will gain knowledge and develop the skills in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, Phlebotomy, ECG/EKG, Clinical Procedures, Medical Billing, Practice Management and Medical Law/Ethics. Additionally, students are exposed to the growing importance of patient rights, security and privacy of medical records, HIPAA (Healthcare Insurance, Portability & Accountability Act).
Medical assistants help patients who are in need by passing medications, helping patients walk, filling out paperwork, taking blood pressure and checking heart rates, as well as assisting doctors where necessary.
This program is uniquely suited for those who love helping people and working in a high-energy environment such as a doctor's office. As a Medical Assistant you will be updating medical records, performing lab tests and interfacing with both doctors and patients.
From Medical Assisting Associate Degree program, ATA Career Education will equip you with the knowledge needed to enter the medical assisting profession. This track is for students who prefer a hands-on, person-to-person medical career, which involves taking medical histories and vital signs, explaining treatment procedures and patient prep.
This program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, patient care procedures, pharmacology, medical office procedures, communication skills, as well as computer skills.
From this program student will also be prepared to pursue a professional certification as a Medical Assistant. The skills and knowledge acquired from the training courses will enable the graduate to work as an entry-level health professional in one of many different medical environments, such as clinical labs, general practitioner offices and area specialists, and other ambulatory settings.
The Career Point College Medical Assistant program is designed to train students in medical ethics, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, insurance billing, use and care of diagnostic equipment, venipuncture, injections, pharmacology, universal precautions, vital signs, CPR, first aid, hematology, EKG, urinalysis, and microbiology.
